MAIN APPLICANT


CIRAD is a targeted research organization, and bases its operations on development needs, from field to laboratory and from a local to a global scale. Cirad as a leader facilitates the implementation of the DREAM project. Cirad will also participate in the setting up of the agricultural and environmental research framework of the Project through the scientific committee, the RP-PCP and the ICP. Cirad will also participate in the supervision of the academic research activities and in the realisation of the applied participatory research projects for innovation options in Conservation-Agriculture, NRM and livestock production.

The Zimbabwe Parks and Wildlife Management Authority (ZIMPARKS) is responsible for conserving Zimbabwe's wildlife and wilderness resources, inside and outside Protected Areas. One of the major responsibilities of the organization is to maintain bio diversity through conservation of ecosystems, species and ecological processes so as to enable natural selection to operate on wild populations. This involves planning, management, research, monitoring and extension throughout Zimbabwe.

The Department of AGRITEX is the extension wing of the Ministry of Agriculture, Mechanization and Irrigation Development.  It provides technical and advisory services, farmer training and market-oriented extension for different farmer clientele through liaison, coordination of agricultural programmes and promotion of proven agricultural technologies that enhance productivity which is environmentally sustainable, competitive and economically viable. The Department also disseminates agricultural information and monitors crop, livestock and other agricultural production trends to inform policy.

The Department of Livestock and Veterinary Services is the arm of the Ministry of Agriculture, Mechanisation and Irrigation Development, established to provide services, facilitate development and coordination of the livestock sector towards sustainable food and nutritional security, employment and economic growth. It provides public good and related services to the livestock industry for the creation and maintenance of an environment and capacities conducive to the enhancement of production, productivity and competitiveness of livestock and animal products.
